March 2007
Wool Sand hoppers move and Clan Line on a VSOE A Boys Day Out to the East Midlands provided much to be happy with. Good weather, good traffic with interesting workings and good company. A day to remember. Midland Main Line coaches and 47480 on a stock move. Morning and afternoon freight, Clan Line on VSOE and a Tug on the Woking stone through Lyne. Much 'Thrash' as 37410/37406 head west on an ECS move.
All the possible traffic ran in the 3 hours that I was there. Locos included 2 Class 60's and of course the reason for the visit Ex GWR Castle Class 5051 Earl Bathurst working to Paddington from Swansea.
A few hours at Berkhamsted produces a variety of traffic on a sunny day. This location is one of only three on the WCML that the Pendolinos use the full tilt facility. It is very impressive to view at close quarters. Didcot Sunday. Weddding Bells special and a coule of hours at Lower Basildon.
